My swedish Christmas in New Zealand...
I burned my very first plate of Swedish Lussebullar, in fact I even struggled to make the yeast survive in my schourching conditions, resulting in little hard buns un-eatable and un-servable even though it made for a good photo...
We spent Christmas mingling with new Swedes in Tauranga along with meeting new neigbhours and skyping with my family back home. It was as usual a miss mash between: what to eat, do and how to really celebrate 24 th and the 25 th. In NZ they open the gifts in the morning and in Sweden quite the opposite, in the evening surrounded by candle lights and traditional TV shows. We ended up (what felt like a birthday) eating a hearty buffe in our kitchen, fresh fruits and a juicy ham with mustard on crackers and then indulging in some gifts accomponated by sunny skies and whisking palmtrees. What could be more Christmassy then that?
I wish you all a happy New Year and that the Christmas now all done and dusted was as random and cheerful, charming and happy as mineJ
