The Ever Present Mischa Barton
It seems like the newest breed of Hollywood A-listers are all looks and very few accomplishments. There's Paris Hilton, Mary-Kate Olsen, and Victoria Beckham. And, of course, who can forget Mischa Barton?
Born in January 24, 1986, English-born Mischa Anne Marsden Barton is best (and only) known for her role as Marissa Cooper in the popular TV series, The O.C. Her acting career started even earlier than that, however. She co-starred in several off-Broadway productions since the age of 8, and has appeared in several films, most notably The Sixth Sense and Notting Hill. She also appeared in several TV series and music videos, but it wasn't until The O.C. that she was truly noticed.
After her Marissa character was killed off in the show's third season, Mischa then moved on to film. She debuted alongside Hayden Christensen in the comedy Virgin Territory, which was a straight-to-DVD flop. She also turned down an offer to join the Gossip Girl cast – a move that was considered unwise by many people.
Despite her dismal acting career, Mischa is relatively well-known as a party girl and has been linked to socialite Brandon Davis and rock stars Cisco Adler and Taylor Locke. She is often seen doing the rounds of red carpet events in the company of best gal pal, Mary-Kate Olsen.
Mischa is a very high-profile celebrity endorser. Over the years, she's appeared in several ad campaigns for Calvin Klein, Neutrogena, Jaspal, and bebe Clothing, to name just a few. She is currently the face of Italian designer brand, Iceberg, and Keds.
With her tall, rail-thin figure, she's a natural at fashion and is a favorite among designers. But as well-dressed as Mischa often is, she's had more than her fair share of fashion misses. She seems to have a tendency to overdo things, from an excess of boho, to her most recent fringe overkill (boots, vest, and bag is just a tad too much, methinks).
Mischa is set to appear in You and I and Assassination of a High School President with Bruce Willis in 2009. There's also talk that she'll be joining the cast of Ugly Betty as a 5-episode guest star. Whatever projects she may have in the coming years, one thing's for sure – it'll be awhile before we see the end of Mischa Barton.
