embrace the lace...
I love lace shorts!
I had a pair last summer that unfortunately got 'accidently miss coloured' when I washed them with something ‘dark and mean looking’…they came out grey and patchy. Thinking back, I probably should have just accepted the way they looked and maybe even 'embraced’ the new shade by pretending it was meant to look like that, patchy, sun bleached in a grey tie dye design. Instead I got busy organizing a bleach bath. Excited about the prospects of getting them back to white and their former glory I over did it and decided to let them soak in a plastic tub bath over night. Big mistake, in the morning as I took them up they were shredded to pieces, the bleach had literally been ‘eating’ my sweet little lace shorts over night. I desperatly went back to the shop where I got them “sorry, they are sold out”…I could swear that she gave me a little smirk, as in ‘you should have bought a few while you were here?’…So, I’m officially on a lace short hunt ‘again’.
I have a pair of cross stitched shorts (see below) that’s part of my market stock that I really love (I thought they were called culottes by the way) but after Google-searching the word ‘culottes’ I found out that it’s more like a skirt-pant, a wide model with commonly added pleats.
Nothing like the bedroom fancy lace shorts pant I secretly thought they were. As for where to get them; Haute Hippie has a pair of lace/jeans shorts that are really cute and on sale too. Another brand that has embraced the lace is BB Dakota which stocks heaps of options, my favourite being a black pair called Arielle, on a close second it would be Julian lace shorts which is really a pair of nightie looking shorts embellished with a cute little black lace trim.
Happy lace hunting out there…xxx Alice
