Do anything by a half stacker ring...

I have (strangely) got used to being awake the most odd hours of the day, usually so early or late that it feels like I’m the only human being left in the world (well that and my ‘in deep sleep’ husband next to me and baby of course). At first I found it surprising seeing so many little lit up windows outside. I spot them as I scout over a landscape of villas washing my hands from the bathroom window.

One man is crunched over a laptop in what looks like his office revealing book shelfs and a painting hard to spot in plain daylight. He looks tired, with a slouching posture while resting his head against his hand and elbow. I then looked at the time…4.43 in the morning.

I watch my baby as she slowly dozes off on a little green fleece blanket next to me and well tucked in between me and my husband. She disappears into a light sleep making cuddly noises and moving her little hands and fingers through the tip of her hair. It’s been a long morning feed with one diaper change, me brewing a cup of rooibos in between and two pain killers later I am relaxed in bed again.

Sometimes it’s barely sunrise, a mild almost pink daze washes in from the sea and makes everything look like risen from a fairy tale. Today, now at 6.48 it’s misty and grey, the sky is hovering over the roof tops and sand dunes in a heavy almost gloomy way. Weather like this brings new energy to me, as if it was a silent approval that it’s okay for me to be inside, a thumbs up that I’m not missing anything by hiding in my bedroom. I watch her again, liking the peace and quiet as she settles and her tiny breathing slows down. It’s the indescribable magic of finding myself alone for a while, the comforting sound of me typing on my keyboard in the light of a laptop and the childhood flashbacks of being tucked in between warm bedding knowing that a new day is about to settle in…

P.s I got an email this morning from shop planet blue (another obsessive website of mine) and they sell half stacker rings, adding that to my “must have” for 2012, that and anything Wang at the moment…happy browsing out there whenever you wake up :-)
